Dale Ave Change

The City of Richmond Heights is moving into the design phase of the Dale Avenue Streetscape.  Meetings have been held with the residents of the Dale Avenue area to talk about the Streetscape and give suggestions on the best way to improve the viability of Dale Avenue.  During these sessions information was provided to residents and your opinions and ideas have been put into the plan.

When the streets in Richmond Heights were originally laid out Dale Avenue was determined to be one of the major streets in our town.  The width of Dale Avenue is 100 feet (Hanley to Big Bend) although the City does not  use all of this easement.  In essence the City’s property is 50 feet north and 50 feet south of the existing center line on Dale Avenue.

The Streetscape will go from Laclede Station Road on the west to Big Bend Blvd. on the east.  The street will be widen to provide for expanded parking and bike lanes.  There will be an upgrade of the tree lawn  and areas where seating will be provided.  To accomplish this the City will be moving the sidewalk approximately 5 to 7 feet.  This will mean that there will be less green space between your house and the sidewalk.

We wanted you to know that the City will begin work soon and did not want this to be a surprise.  Many of our neighbors have lived on Dale for a long period of time and might not remember having their lot surveyed.

Each month we meet with our neighbors in District 2 and all of Richmond Heights.  This months meeting will be Saturday, September 10, 10 am at Richmond Terrace, 1633 Laclede Station Road.  This will be part of our discussion.  Please join us if you can.

Thank You

Mike and Jim
